Thinking about the Ramona Flowers Collectible Figure? Learn what to check before buying, how to spot common display and stand issues, and when to fix or return it.
Quick answer
The Ramona Flowers Collectible Figure is a solid choice for Scott Pilgrim fans, but before you unbox, check the stand and joints—these are the most common trouble spots.
What to check before you buy
The figure is based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's art, so it has a stylized look that stands out on a shelf. It comes with 7 points of articulation and interchangeable accessories, which gives you some posing flexibility.
However, because it's a collector's piece, you'll want to inspect the box for any damage that might have occurred during shipping. A crushed corner or torn seal could mean the figure inside has shifted or broken.
Common display and stand issues
Many collectors report that the included stand can be finicky. The figure's balance depends on how you position the stand and the figure's feet. If the stand isn't seated properly, the figure may lean or fall.
Another issue is loose joints. While 7 points of articulation allow for dynamic poses, some joints might be stiff out of the box, or conversely, too loose to hold a pose. This is normal for figures in this price range, but it's worth knowing before you start posing.
Diagnose your figure issues
- Symptom: Figure won't stand upright: Check if the stand's peg is fully inserted into the figure's foot. If it's loose, try a different angle or apply a small amount of pressure to seat it properly. If the peg still won't hold, stop and contact the seller for a replacement stand.
- Symptom: Joints are too stiff or too loose: For stiff joints, gently move them back and forth while supporting the figure. For loose joints, use a tiny drop of clear nail polish on the joint to add friction. If a joint is cracked or broken, stop posing and consider a return.
- Symptom: Accessories don't fit: Interchangeable accessories may require a bit of force to swap. Align the peg with the hole and push straight in. If it doesn't fit, check for molding flash and trim it carefully. If the accessory is warped or broken, stop and request a replacement.
