Contra – Original Video Game Soundtrack LP (SDCC VERSION)

The NES side of this pressing sounds incredible—that bass line on the jungle level hits way harder than I expected from a 30-year-old soundtrack. Spun it twice already, and the vinyl is dead quiet between tracks, which makes the chiptunes feel crisp and alive.

Finally, a vinyl pressing that does justice to the original NES chip tunes—every bleep and bloop comes through with zero distortion. The gatefold jacket feels sturdy, and the track listing being exactly the classic game's music is a huge plus.

The gatefold art is a nice touch for the SDCC version, and the NES side sounds crisp on my turntable. I wish the Famicom tracks were a bit louder in the mix, but overall it’s a solid collectible for fans of the game.
