Alien – Complete Motion Picture Soundtrack 4XLP

The wide-grooved 180-gram vinyl discs have zero surface noise, and the fourth LP filled with alternate takes is a treasure. I've been listening to the original 1979 album side-by-side with the expanded score, and the difference in depth is startling.

The 4XLP box set is beautifully constructed, with each disc housed in its own sleeve that feels sturdy. I was particularly impressed by the inclusion of the alternate and bonus cues, which give a deeper look into Goldsmith’s process. A must-have for any fan of the film’s haunting score.

The first disc alone, with the expanded score, is worth the price, but having the original 1979 album and all those alternate takes makes this the definitive set. The box itself feels sturdy and the vinyl pressing is quiet, so the creepy strings really come through clean.
