O’Rourke’s process – sourcing resonant sounds to enmesh together into a music that supersedes their resident parts – makes a fitting soundtrack for Kyle Armstrong’s “prairie gothic” tale of down-on-the-farm horror way up north in Canada. His minimalist score inhabits the wide open, big sky landscape, flowing into suddenly-deep (and opaque) emotional waters, then panning out to a chilly omniscient remove.

I’ve been listening to this soundtrack every evening, and the way O’Rourke layers found sounds into something haunting really captures the prairie gothic feel. The vinyl pressing is quiet and clean, no pops or crackles distracting from the mood.

Aurora F. ★★★★★ Oct 20, 2026

The prairie gothic mood comes through so clearly on vinyl, those layered resonant sounds feel even more immersive than streaming. Side A's flow into the title track is flawless, and the pressing is dead quiet between cuts.

The way O’Rourke layers those resonant sounds creates this deep, immersive atmosphere that pulls you right into the prairie gothic world. I’ve been spinning it non-stop since it arrived, and the whole album feels like a slow-burn story unfolding through the grooves.
