Naked Lunch – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 2XLP

Category: Vinyl

In collaboration with Howe Records, Mondo is excited to announce this new release celebrating the 25th anniversary for the score to Naked Lunch, composed by three-time Oscar-winner Howard Shore collaborating with both jazz legend Ornette Coleman and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Based on the novel by William S. Burroughs, director David Cronenberg takes the character of William Lee (Peter Weller) through his drug-fueled escapades in the fictional land of Interzone, while also blending it with a semi-autobiographic story about Burroughs himself.

Listening to this pressing really brings out the depth of Shore’s score; the vinyl feels quiet and flat, with none of the surface noise I’ve gotten from older copies. The 2XLP format lets the tracklisting breathe perfectly, letting each eerie cue hit with full clarity. Exactly the kind of treatment

This double LP pressing is incredibly quiet — no surface noise at all, which makes Howard Shore’s eerie woodwinds and percussion really stand out. The gatefold sleeve has a nice matte finish that captures the film’s mood perfectly.

Crackling with atmosphere, this 25th anniversary 2XLP sounds incredible—Howard Shore's score is hauntingly beautiful pressed on vinyl. The packaging has that classic Mondo art vibe, though I wish the liner notes were a bit more extensive. Still, for fans of the film, it’s an essential piece.
