Made in 1982, TENEBRE is another Giallo masterpiece from Director Dario Argento.

Although his frequent musical collaborators Goblin had disbanded while he was filming, Argento managed to convince three members of the group to reform and record the score to TENEBRE. Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli & Massimo Morante re-assembled in their studio and managed to deliver one of the greatest soundtracks of the 80s. Simonetti brought with him his love of Italio disco and a medley of solid disco grooves. Their intense, tight prog rock style is nothing short of astonishing. The lead track is a vocoder lead freak out that mixes disco, rock, and church organs with screeching synth leads; the resulting controlled chaos pretty much sets the tone for the entire record. TENEBRE is far more electronics based than the majority of the bands scores for Argento, and it really shines alongside other classic such as SUSPIRIA & DEEP RED.

Music performed by Simonetti – Pignatelli – Morante. Artwork by Randy Ortiz. Strictly one-off pressing of 500 units on 140 Gram Transparent Red Vinyl.

Stella ★★★★★

The vinyl pressing is dead quiet, letting every eerie synth and haunting vocal from the score cut through perfectly. It arrived well-packaged and the sleeve art looks as moody as the film itself. Definitely a must for any Argento fan’s collection.

Victoria ★★★★★

I was blown away by the clarity of the vinyl pressing—it makes the eerie synth lines feel so immediate and alive. The 1982 recording captures every tense detail perfectly for any Giallo fan.

Aurora S. ★★★★★

The synth-heavy score hits so hard on vinyl, and the pressing is dead quiet between tracks—no hiss or crackle to pull you out of the mood. I’ve spun it three times already and the bass on the main theme still gives me chills every single time.
