Quick answer
The That Thing You Do! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP + 7-Inch is a must-have for fans of the film and collectors of movie vinyl, offering the first-ever vinyl pressing of the beloved soundtrack.
Why this release matters for collectors
For years, fans of Tom Hanks' 1996 film could only enjoy the soundtrack on CD or digital. This Mondo Music and Play-Tone collaboration marks the first time the hit songs have been pressed on vinyl, making it a significant addition to any movie soundtrack collection.
The set includes both a full LP and a 7-inch single, giving you the complete listening experience. The packaging is designed to appeal to collectors who appreciate thoughtful presentation.
Decision rules for buying the LP + 7-Inch set
- Are you a fan of the film?: If you love the movie and its music, this set is a direct way to connect with the soundtrack in a physical format that matches the film's era.
- Do you collect movie soundtracks on vinyl?: This is a rare and exclusive release from Mondo Music, adding a unique piece to your collection that most other soundtrack releases cannot offer.
- Do you value the 7-inch single?: The included 7-inch provides a bonus listening experience that standard LP releases skip. If you enjoy the novelty of smaller records, this is a plus.
- Is price a concern?: At USD 35.00 (compared to a catalog price of USD 50.00), the set offers good value for a first-pressing soundtrack with a bonus 7-inch. If you are budget-conscious, this is a fair deal. Check the available color options before buying; they may affect collectibility.
