Heavy Metal Films

The chapter tracing how horror flicks and metal bands fed off each other in the 70s is worth the price alone, and the film stills are printed on heavy, glossy paper that feels great to flip through. I’ve already dog-eared half the pages for movies I need to track down.

Bought this for my dad who grew up on vinyl and VHS, and we ended up fighting over who got to read it first. The way it traces the link between horror films and metal bands from the very beginning is exactly the deep-dive I was hoping for, and it's got that gritty, obsessive energy the subject deser

It’s a fun read that digs deep into the metal-cinema connection, and the chapter on Italian horror’s influence is a real standout. I’ve read a lot of music books, but this one’s angle on how genre films shaped the scene felt genuinely fresh.
