Crash – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 2XLP

Shore’s score here is as unsettling and erotic as the film itself, and this pressing captures all that low-end rumble without a hint of distortion. The 2XLP gatefold feels sturdy and the 20th anniversary packaging does the artwork justice. Been spinning side A on repeat since it arrived.

The pressing is dead quiet between tracks, which lets Shore’s unnerving strings breathe exactly as they should. Packaging feels substantial for an anniversary set, and the gatefold art fits the film’s cold, clinical mood.

The 20th anniversary pressing has that deep, immersive soundstage that really lets the strings and electronics breathe. I’ve been spinning it all week and keep noticing new textures in the score.
